Shadow Work Prompts for Healing Childhood Trauma
Share
We all carry pieces of our childhood within us, the laughter, the fear, the moments that shaped who we became.
But when those early experiences left us feeling unseen, unprotected, or unheard, parts of our soul went into hiding.
Shadow work is the process of gently inviting those parts back home. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary for deep healing.
Here are a few journal prompts to begin:
- When did I first learn that I had to silence my feelings to feel safe?
- What emotions make me uncomfortable — and where do I think that discomfort comes from?
- What did I need as a child that I still crave as an adult?
- How do I react when someone treats me the way my caregivers once did?
- If I could speak to my inner child, what would I tell them about safety, love, and worthiness?
Take your time. Let emotions rise, and honor them.
Healing doesn’t mean the past disappears, it means the pain no longer runs the show.
